The Beijing FEL (BFEL) is a infrared FEL facility based on the rf linac. In order to improve its beam diagnostic system transition radiation has been used instead of the original phosphor target. Beam profile, size, relative position and divergence in transverse were obtained using optical transition radiation (OTR). The principle of transition radiation used for beam diagnosis and the setup for OTR measurement are described. Some preliminary results are presented．
