In this paper, the imaging velocity interferometer system for any reflector (VISAR) is introduced, which is used to diagnose the shock wave with temporal and spatial resolution capability. The technique is so that improved the transmission system can reserve the most of space information of the target, and the recording system has the picosecond resolution due to using the streak camera. The optical system and fundamentals of imaging velocity interferometer system for any reflector (VISAR) are introduced, and the optical design diagram and the resolution of this system are proposed. The basic parameters of laser source and imaging system are also proposed.
