DEVELOPMENT OF FLASH X-RAY MACHINES AT CAEP

  • Flash X-ray technology had been rapidly developed at CAEP during the past 30 years. It plays an important role in the researches of detonation physics and transient radiation electronics effects. In this paper the developments of various type of flash X-ray machines are overviewed. The progresses in areas of high pulsed voltage, field emission and electron beam focusing technology are described and primary parameters of some typical facilities are presented. Flash X-ray machines have been used as tools for studies of detonation physics and high velocity motion process. With the development of defense science and technology, the development of high power flash X-ray machines is necessary.
This paper also presents several related topics of newly opened research fields.
