THREE-DIMENSIONAL THEORY AND COMPUTATION OF BEAM DYNAMICS IN AN ELECTRON LINAC

Abstract
A three-dimensional theory of beam dynamics in an electron linac is presented in the paper. The injected pulse beam is divided into many annuluses with the same charge amount and the motions of the annuluses are traced in a 3-D space. The characteristics of the beam is studied in 6-D phase space. The emittance feature and RMS emittance of the bunch in the phase plane (r, pr), (rθ,pa) (z, pz) are given, and the facts which affect the beam emittance are discussed.
