NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS OF LASER IGNITION OF PETN AND INTERACTIONS OF EXPLOSION WAVES WITH Al TARGETS

Abstract
The Process of high explosive PETN ignited by a laser beam has been simulated with a 1-D code SSS. The effects of the thickness of transparent glass window and the shape of the laser pulse are discussed, respectively. The explosive expansion is one of the most important factors for energy loss during the ignition. The response of the aluminum plate driven by PETN explosive is also discussed.
