Abstract
Timeresolved and timeintegrated stimulated Raman scattering (SRS) spectra from gold hohlraum irradiated with 351nm laser light are measured. The experimental results are inconsistent with the prediction of the convective SRS theory and enhanced incoherent Thomson scattering model. The analyses show that the prediction of SRS in filaments agrees reasonably with the experimental results. Based on the model of the coupling between filaments and SRS, the method of diagnosing plasma density with SRS spectrum was developed. The calculated result shows that the difference between the model and the convective SRS theory is less than 10%, which agrees with the conclusion made by Afsharrad[Phys. Fluids B 4,1301(1992)].
