A SHIELDED PULSED ELECTROMAGNET WIGGLER

A shielded-pulsed electromagnet wiggler is introduced for enhancing the field strength.In conventional electromagnet wigglers,there is a significant side leakage flux exisiting between two adjacent poles,which leads to saturation of the core.It hampers the performance of the magnet.The shielded pulsed wiggler concept will be a efficient way which will shit Id time varying side leakage flux and will reduce saturation of the core.The advantages of the shielded-pulsed electromagnet wigglerconcept havebeeninvesti-gated with wiggler period λw of 12cm.working gap 2δ of 4.4cm.pulse durat ion of 2ms and maximum ampere-turns of 12000A.It has been found that the field strength can improved by as much as 15%.
