SIMULATION FOR PALADIN EXPERIMENTS

  • In this paper.we introduce the experimental configuration,goal and main results for Paladin facility at Livermore National Laboratory.To analysis the experimental results on Paladin.we have programed a two-dimensional code named MICFEL and compared the simulation results with the experimental data on Paladin.It turns out that the main reason why Paladin experiments did not get the preset goal is due to the poor briehtness of the electron beam.If the beam current had reached 1500A and the beam brightness had approched 109A/m2 · rad2,Paladin experiment would have given several GW laser output power and near 10% extractive efficency of the beam.We have also investigated the conditions for producing 1-μm free electron laser.
