THERMAL BLOOMING OF COLLEMATED PULSED HIGH POWER LASER BEAM PROPAGATING UPWARDS IN THE ATMOSPHERE

Abstract
Using numerical simulation method and parameter modes of real atmosphere, the effect of nonlinear thermal blooming on upward propagation of collimated pulsed high power laser beam in the atmosphere have been studied on the basis of the wave optics opproach. The results show that such blooming, eventhough small, has critically bad effect on laser beem phase front and its divergency.
