THE APPLICATION OF ANTI-SATURATION GATE OF PHOTOMULTIPLIER FOR LASER MEASUREMENTS

  • In this paper, the principle of the photomultiplier with an anti-saturation gate is described, which has been used to measure velocities of shock waves produced by electron beam deposition on targets A CW. He-Ne laser beam irradiates the rear surface of the target and the reflected light is detected by a photomultiplier. In order to avoid the saturation of the photomultiplier due to the long time irradiation of laser beam, the photomultiplier is turned on only a few tens of microsecond before the electron beam is generated. using an anti-saturation gate.
We have developed an anti-saturation gate controlled by a pulse with low voltage amplitude. It has been shown in our experiment that this method can be used to detecte the intense laser beams without saturation.
