THE FABRICATION OF HOLLOW PLASTIC MICROSPHERES BY MICROENCAPSULATION METHOD

  • Polystyrene(PS)was used as the material for the fabrication of hollow microspheres. The factors such as the emulsifying rotating speed, the concentration of solution, the volume ratio of water/organic phases, the temperature and vacuum of operation were studied. PS microspheres with diameter from 100 to 30opm and wall thickness of 2 to 8μm were successfully produced. Their concentricity, sphericity and surface roughnesses are typically less than 5%, 10% and 3oonm respectively.
