Abstract:
Background Software verification and validation are indispensable components of the software development process.
Purpose Given that fast reactors differ from pressurized water reactors in multiple aspects such as fuel, spectrum, and coolant, a new software testing and validation matrix needs to be established specifically for fast reactors.
Methods Through extensive research and screening of domestic and international fast spectrum benchmark experiments and actual reactor cores, a validation matrix suitable for fast reactors has been developed. This matrix covers various geometric and material parameters, including effective multiplication factor, control rod worth, void worth, different reactivity coefficients, power distribution, and other core parameters. Based on the established validation matrix, an analysis of the applicability of the Monte Carlo code RMC for fast reactor physics calculations was conducted.
Results Results indicate that the RMC code calculates all core parameters in the validation matrix with minimal deviation from measured values and high accuracy.
Conclusions RMC is suitable for fast reactor physics calculations.
