Abstract: Laser energy deposition is described by the spatial derivative of laser intensity in the simulation study of the laser-target interaction. But the equation for laser energy deposition used in our present code is divergent on the critical surface. In the present paper, a modified equation for laser energy deposition, which does not contain singularity, is derived. Some discusses and one dimensional laser-target interaction simulation results are presented.
