Abstract: High average power diode pumped laser　(HAP-DPL) is a developing concept and research field. Its every progress depends on the technological innovation. Different approaches of the thermal management lead to the different type of HAP-DPL even beyond the all-solid-state laser concept. HAP-DPL has the good application perspective. The five application directions are given. Meanwhile the paper indicates that there are some restraints such as energy, heat controll for HAP-DPL development.
