Abstract: Emission sources of soft x rays ( 2keV< hv< 6keV)from hot plasmas have been studied in a small gas- puff Z -pinch. The emission sources are a group of uncontinuous hot spots. The output of soft x rays from the hot spots have been measured and the effect of the initial gas density on the yield of soft x rays has been investigated.
