Abstract: The principle and method for measuring brightness of electron beams using a magnetic collimator are presented. Some limitations of the method are listed. Measurements have been performed on a 1.5McV LIA and the measured brightness is in agreement with the result obtained from "pepper-pot method". Finally, the effects of space charge on the brightness measurement have been discussed.
