Abstract: Experimental demonstration of the physical mechanism of multi - electron - beam Cherenkov free-electron laser has been carried out at first time. Electron beams of total current 280kA at 5OOkV were introduced into a multi - dielectric cavity and a 1.7MW output, power at 33.4GHz with efficiency of about 1.2% was generated.
